CEO & Founder

Ian Parkin-Coates

Ian Parkin-Coates is the driving force behind Motorcraft Adventure Developments, combining a passion for adventure with expertise in overland vehicle design. A former motorcycle racer, he built his own race transporter in the ’90s, sparking a career in vehicle construction. Retiring in 2006, he shifted to high-performance live-in vehicles.

Today, Ian leads Motorcraft Adventure Developments with the same drive and innovation that started it all, ensuring every vehicle meets the highest standards of quality, durability, and performance. His hands-on approach and relentless pursuit of excellence continue to push the boundaries of overland vehicle design.

Head of Operations

Rob Dillon

Rob keeps Motorcraft running across every corner of the business. Some days that means office work - finance, HR, paperwork - other days it’s hands-on on the shop floor, supporting projects wherever needed. No two days are the same.

His favourite projects are the vehicles that get out on the road and into the wild - seeing them in action is what makes them special.

If he could take a Motorcraft vehicle anywhere, it would be South Africa - safaris, adventure, and a chance to explore places he hasn’t been since childhood.

Workshop Manager

Matt Maylon

Matt keeps the Motorcraft workshop running smoothly, coordinating teams across fabrication, interiors, plumbing, and electrical. His days are diverse, moving between departments and ensuring every project stays on track.

His favourite part of Motorcraft? The people. Seeing the team develop their skills and knowing there’s always room to improve every build is what drives him. Behind the scenes, he’s often a listening ear for the workforce, helping ease stresses so everyone can do their best work.

If he could take a Motorcraft vehicle anywhere, it would be Texas - the vast landscapes are perfect for putting the trucks through their paces.

Head of Sales & Design Lead

Tom Parkin-Coates

Tom bridges Motorcraft’s customers and creations, leading the sales process while also overseeing the design team. A typical day involves responding to inquiries, organising meetings, and guiding clients through the design process - turning their ideas into practical solutions that fit their budget.

His favourite project is an upcoming limited build - one of very few in the world.

If he could take a Motorcraft vehicle anywhere, it would be the western United States, where national parks, diverse landscapes, and four seasons are all within reach.

Business Support Coordinator

Mary Parkin-Coates

Mary balances the workshop and office to make sure updates, jobs, and communications stay on track. Her days are varied - chasing progress on projects one moment, coordinating from the office the next.

Her favourite builds are the fully bespoke HX60s, especially the ones that head out into the wild - big wheels, big adventure.

If she could take a Motorcraft vehicle anywhere, it would be Iceland. “I’m a cold-weather girl at heart,” she says. “I love the stars and the sky - it’s the perfect place to explore".

Stores Manager

Scott

Scott manages the flow of parts, tools and materials that keep every build progressing. From deliveries and stock control to supplier coordination, he ensures the workshop has what it needs, when it needs it, across multiple complex projects.

Working closely with all departments, he monitors lead times, tracks specialist components and helps prevent delays. By maintaining clear systems and accurate oversight behind the scenes, he plays a key role in keeping builds organised and on schedule.

Facilities Manager

Adam Bacon

Adam oversees the workshop, yard and facilities, ensuring every department has the space, tools and support required. His role covers maintenance, site organisation and logistics, helping builds progress without interruption.

Stepping in wherever needed, he keeps operations running smoothly. He is particularly interested in the 3.5 tonne overland vehicles, which offer scope for new ideas within a compact platform.

Lead Fabricator

Joe

Joe leads the fabrication department, bringing precision and experience to every overland build. From welding and structural metalwork to custom measuring and fitment, he ensures each component is built to exacting standards.

Whether reinforcing a subframe, fabricating bespoke brackets or aligning the habitation body to the chassis, his work ensures every Motorcraft vehicle performs reliably on and off road. Each weld and measurement reflects a focus on durability and functional design.

Lead Electrician

Ant

Ant leads the design and installation of electrical systems across every Motorcraft build, ensuring each vehicle is safe, compliant and ready for remote travel.

Focusing on efficient power management, redundancy and reliability, he builds systems designed to perform in demanding environments. Every installation is thoroughly tested before handover to ensure it operates exactly as intended in real world conditions.

Outside the workshop, Ant travels in his self-built campervan and works on specialist van conversions.

Interior Assembly

Matthew "Doddsy"

Matt plays a key role in fitting and final assembly across Motorcraft builds. Working closely with the interiors and accessories teams, he installs furniture, trims, hardware and a wide range of integrated components that bring each vehicle together.

His role demands precision and a strong understanding of how every element interacts within the build. From aligning cabinetry to fitting accessories and finishing details, Doddsy ensures each installation is secure, functional and built to withstand life on and off road. With a practical mindset and steady approach, he helps transform individual parts into a cohesive, expedition ready interior.

Lead Painter

Brad

Brad leads the paint department at Motorcraft, overseeing the refinishing process from start to finish. His work can involve anything from stripping complete trucks and preparing habitation bodies to final paint application and careful reassembly.

The role requires precision, consistency and close attention to detail to achieve a durable, high-quality finish that matches the standard of the build as a whole. Having worked across a wide range of projects, Brad particularly enjoyed bringing the Atlas truck to life, where the distinctive design made the process especially rewarding.
