One Life Truck It and Motorcraft Adventure Developments: Building the Ultimate 8x8 Overland Truck

One Life Truck It, the social media alias of Bobby Bolton, has become synonymous with adventure and overlanding. After facing personal challenges, Bobby sold his business, revamped a truck, and set off from Wigan with his dog Red, driving across continents and more than 50 countries. His experiences inspired his bestselling book, Truck It!: The Drive Around the World That Saved My Life, which reached the Sunday Times Bestsellers List.

Now, in collaboration with Motorcraft Adventure Developments, Bobby is taking on his most ambitious project yet: transforming an ex-army MAN HX77 8x8 into the ultimate expedition vehicle.

A Collaborative Dream

From the very start, we’ve worked closely with Bobby on every aspect of the build. We created all the initial renders, drawings, and planning. The design covers the subframe, habitation box, doors, and windows, ensuring the truck can handle tough terrain while providing a comfortable home on wheels.

This project combines Bobby’s vision with our experience building some of the UK’s most challenging overland vehicles. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in expedition truck design.

From Renders to Workshop

Bobby has shared initial render mockups, giving fans a glimpse of the final truck. At our Doncaster workshop, these designs are starting to come alive. Frame measurements, mock-ups, and careful planning are turning the renders into steel, aluminium, and glass — a perfect balance of vision and engineering.

What’s Next

The HX77 build is just beginning. As the project progresses, we’ll continue to share behind-the-scenes updates alongside Bobby’s journey. Together, we’re creating a vehicle that embodies adventure, ingenuity, and the spirit of overlanding.
